Letchworth Garden City Bowls Club

(Founded 1931)

Never played before:
Come along to our Open Day on Saturday 1st April and give it a go. Experienced bowlers will be there to help get you started. They will also arrange for further training sessions if you want them. You will find that very quickly you’ll be invited to play in friendly matches with other clubs.
If you can’t make the Open Day then come along any Friday night at about 6:00pm. This is club night; with members participating in informal bowls. They will be pleased to introduce you to bowls and the club.

Does it matter how old you are:
Whether you are young, middle-aged or a pensioner, bowls is a great game for people of all ages and abilities. You can play just friendly games or there are numerous competitions at Club, County or National level for the competitive player.

Are men and women welcome:
Yes. All the club’s friendly and league matches have mixed men and women teams. It’s only if you progress to district or county competitions that you will find men or women only events

Haven’t got any equipment:
The club has sets of bowls to be borrowed and all the other equipment required for a game. The only requirement we have is that flat-soled shoes should be worn to protect the playing surface.

Don’t know anyone in the club:
We may not be a large bowls club but we are a friendly club. We have our own clubhouse with a well-stocked bar and catering facilities; join us for a drink on Friday nights or come to some of our social events throughout the year and you’ll soon get to know members.
